The volume Money and Power, the first in the Culture and Literature series, aims to explore some of the phenomena related to the interrelationships between the accumulation of capital and forms of domination, feelings and opinions about usury, behaviour, interpersonal relations and interactions with the environment resulting from these couplings. The articles collected in the volume take a broad view as they present the theoretical aspects and analyse their application through literary testimonies that show the connections between money and power and the ways in which usury has become a tool of political influence, exploitation and the perversion of economic development. Faced with paradoxes and ambiguities around these interdependencies, the authors chose to approach them from philological, philosophical, anthropological, religious studies and economic perspectives.
